The Captain’s Log
Grab your favourite notebook or text editor, start a fresh document, and label it “Captain’s Log”.
In it, you will record whatever jumps out during the reading, copying and transcribing.
The journal will be the personal logbook of your learning. Towards the halfway point of the course, we will use it to distil a script report . Later, you will use your notes to formulate your personal manifesto.
Every day after your Forgery and Discovery sessions, take a minute to jot down what jumped out, e.g.:
- script X is a fast read. Why?
- short sentences and paragraphs in the Discovery script
- characters in script Y are clearly defined.
- some characters don’t speak naturally
- missing scene headings?
- typos…
- lots of cliffhangers!
No need to write polished, conclusive statements. We’ll develop these notes later.
